Simon is a board-certified specialist in companion animal cardiology (ECVIM) and a certificate holder in cardiology (RCVS). He graduated from the University of Cambridge and completed specialist cardiology training at the University of Liverpool. He has held academic appointments in small animal cardiology at the Universities in Liverpool and the University of Florida where he was chief of cardiology and medical director. His main research interests have been in degenerative valve disease especially in the cavalier King Charles spaniel. He has extensive interventional experience and lecture and trains people across the world. He is currently past president of the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology.
